Sweet Wedding Cake...

Hi,

Sweet right? I love doing wedding cakes.  The person getting married is sweet and her name is Sue too! What a coincidence, the baker and the bride with the same name.  Her mother called me just a few weeks before Hari Raya and told me she couldn't find any baker willing to her daughter's wedding cake because of the coming Hari Raya (not a very flattering reason to call me...haha) but I just can't say no even though I know I will be so busy with four other cakes on the same day.  I know the bride will be so very disappointed if she doesn't have a wedding cake...her mother emailed me a picture of a cake and as I thought about the design she gave me, I know there is no way I can finish it on time with the other four.  So, I suggested to do a simpler one so that I can guarantee that the cake will be there on her wedding day.  She said yes and here it is.

The bride's colours are white and purple so I followed their colour and her mother was very happy.  Below is the picture on the actual wedding day.  I just love it and it blended with all the other decorations and the main table.  Isn't it sweet?

I hope you enjoyed reading and browsing through my pictures.  I'll be back with more....bye.

Sweet Wedding Proposal Cake & Cupcakes

Hi,

Today I'm just posting these pictures from Ina's wedding (The Myvi Cake).  Her husband also ordered a cake from me for his wife.  He wanted me to copy the figure from their invitation card and I tried my best and came up with this.

The number symbolizes their seventh year together.

These cute cupcakes was actually a last minute order from Ina for their reception lunch.  She wanted me to do small props of mechanical engineering and some for a teacher.  Her husband is working as a mechanical engineer and Ina is a teacher.  She loved these cupcakes....they're cute aren't they? Well, all of these cakes are chocolate cakes and I guess that's about it for now.  I'll see you soon. Bye.

Sweet Myvi Cake...

Hello,

What do you think about my car? I think I did okay...I was really thrilled when Ina..who is getting married today ordered a Myvi cake as `hantaran'.  My head was spinning and spinning as to how I would go about doing it.  So, I googled and found a few good tutorials on how to do a car cake and I just can't wait to do it.  It was very very challenging...yes it was.  There were so many details to do and my husband helped a lot.  Thanks hunny..

This is the real PERODUA Myvi SE 1.3 car. 'PERODUA' is Malaysia's second largest automobile manufacturer after PROTON. Click the picture to review the car specifications.

Down here is the steps that I took to complete the Myvi...looking at the picture it looks easy right?  Try it and it will blow your mind.  The hardest part for me is when I carved the cake.  The weather was so very hot and the cake layers kept sliding down.  I put in like 10 dowels to keep it from sliding down on the table...phew.  Anyway, I did it and am hoping that I can do another one very soon.

I completed the cake and delivered it safely and when I came back I saw a cute car on my ironing board.  Aiman wanted to help but I told him that he can help next time.  I guess he took some of my gumpaste and made his own version of a car. Cute eh?

This is Aiman's (my eldest son) version of his Myvi car cake. So cute....

I hope you enjoy my post and my Myvi.  I will be back very soon with many many more cakes.
See you soon...bye.

Sweet Petronas Twin Towers Cake

Hello and good morning.

It's 12.30 midnight and I am still waiting for another batch of my polka dots steam cakes to bake.  I know I haven't posted anything for quite some time, I was down with flu and a very bad cough for almost two weeks and still recovering then the rest of the family caught the flu bug too.  My boys are okay now and my husband is also recovering.  I did some baking though and I'll post them later.  I wanted to show you what I delivered today to a very beautiful wedding here in Kluang.  As you can see below is the replica of the Petronas Twin Towers that I made using gum paste and imagine it on a wedding cake.  Well, that's what my client wants.  She ordered the cake for her son's wedding.  I asked her why The Tower?  She told me her son met his wife at The Tower where they both work.

She actually asked another baker to do it but unfortunately the baker turned her down.  So her sister, Eliah who is a teacher (of course) called me by my friend's recommendation and asked me to do it.  As you all might guess, I love the challenge and I accepted.  It was not easy and I made the tower a few times and finally last week, I was satisfied.  What do you think?  Did I pass?

Do you like the peonies?  I learnt how to make them from CakeJournal.  The instructions were very easy and clear.  Anyone can do it.  I don't have the peony cutter (so hard to find them here) so, I printed the petals template from Martha Stewart's Paper Peonies tutorial.  I think the peonies looked okay. Below is my first sketching of the cake.

The cake is Red Velvet with blueberry Cheese filling and the cake was the biggest that I have ever made.  I think it weighted almost 10 kilos.  My husband carried it for me and I put the Towers at the wedding venue. Everyone was waiting for the cake and it made me super nervous that I accidently pushed apart the top of the tower.  But I came prepared and I was able to put it back in place.

And here is the bride and groom, Faiz and Noreen.  I hope they liked the cake because I didn't wait for the cutting ceremony.  Well, I'm off to see to my polka dots steam cake.  I hope you enjoy this post and looking forward to your comments.  Bye..

Sweet Wedding Cake

Hello friends,
I'm back.  I'm very sorry it took me a while to post this one.  It had been raining and raining non stop for three days and some of the places here were flooded.  As much as I like it when it rained, my heart goes to the families that were effected by the flood and I hope they are well.  It stopped raining for two days after that but last night it started again.  I was also down with the weather with a very bad case of backache.  I couldn't get up so, I took it as a warning that I'm going too fast and my body needs rest.  I lied in bed for a couple of days and now I'm all better.  Thank you to my husband who took care of everything while I was sick.  You're the best honey!
Okay now, this is a wedding cake as a present (hantaran) for my colleague, Rizuan to his wife Pink. No, its not her real name but everyone calls her Pink and I think it suits her because she is so girly and pretty.  Congratulation to both of you and may you guys have a very happy life together.

Frankly speaking, I don't like green on a cake but since thats their wedding colour, I tried my best.  When the cake was finish, I still have my doubts but it was a good thing that I took the time to do the butterflies a day before because I think the butterflies made the cake better, don't you think so?  I was not planning to do daisies for this cake.  I made some fantasy flowers but when I put it on the cake, it looks awful and my husband thought so too.  So, I made the three daisies as fast as I could because Rizuan was coming in an hour to pick up his cake.  I hope he liked it.

Oh, I forgot about the cake.  The cake was two layers of moist vanilla cake (Marc's Recipe) with chocolate buttercream.  My boys were asking about the cake so I made some for them too and I'll post the picture after this.  I hope you like the photos and I wish all of you well and please keep safe because now is the rainy season and we don't know what might happen.  See you soon.

Sweet Wedding Cake...

Hello for the second time today,

I just finished decorating the carrot wedding cake for my friend.  I think I'm going to grow a hump.  I've been sitting for more than five hours! Imagine that...but the fruit is soo sweet.  I am so glad I finished it and my husband gave me a pat on my back and told me I did a great job.  So, what do you think?  I hope you like it and most important of all, I hope my friend, Isma (who ordered this cake for her friend) likes it.

The bride's name is Ain and the groom's name is Azam so I just put their initial on the cake.  When I think about the design I thought that it would be simple and easy to do it but it turns out that it is time consuming.

First I did a stencil for the stems and leaves on a piece of plastic.  Then I rolled the fondant as thin as possible and cut it with a craft knife using the stencil that I did.  Then I put them on the cake using a drawing that I did as reference.

I did the anemone on Monday so, the flower is now hard and easy to handle.  I hope I did good.  Well, I got another birthday cake okay..bye.
